"The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear." Socrates

Your dictionary.com defined Alchemy as "the process of taking something ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary, sometimes in a way that cannot be explained. An example of using alchemy is a person who takes a pile of scrap metal and turns it into beautiful art. When watching a movie and a wizard turns a toad into a handsome Prince, it is an example of alchemy."

Alchemy is a philosophy or science, which was popular doing the Middle Ages, which experimented and repeatedly attempted to perform successful experiments of the uncommon, such as trying to turn metals into gold.

Alchemy became part of the Greek practice of Hermeticism. You probably know that the Greek word ‘Hermeticism’ is based on Hermes, which is the Greek name for the great Egyptian god Thoth upon whose writings the practice of Hermeticism and alchemy was based. The word ‘alchemy’ comes from Al Khem, which means ‘from the Land of Khem;' the land of Khem is a reference to Egypt.

"All men are by nature equal, made all of the same earth by one Workman; and however we deceive ourselves, as dear unto God is the poor peasant as the mighty prince."   Plato

Alchemy makes appearances throughout history, and many have reduced it to rubbish. However, I am a firm believer in Alchemy because this is a basic philosophic principle as well as a law that is at the core of all life and all things. Socrates was a believer of Alchemy not in the sense of faith but in the fact that it was legitimate life occurrence, so were Plato, and later Aristotle convinced. I first became aware of this principle when I was a much younger man, and I was reading a dialogue between Jesus Christ and Nicodemus a Pharisee, who came to see to Jesus at night. Immediately Jesus says to Nicodemus, "“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. And Nicodemus asked the question that first introduced me to the possibility of Alchemy. Nicodemus speaks, “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answer gave me the conclusion of the matter of Alchemy. Jesus' answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

"We ought to fly away from earth to heaven as quickly as we can; and to fly away is to become like God, as far as this is possible; and to become like him is to become holy, just, and wise." Plato

Wow, we see Jesus uncovering something that we know intuitively. First, we see that things give birth after its kind, second, we see it does not have to be in the same form that it originated. Third, we see that it may be impossible for us to quantify its original form. It is the caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. Most religious faith and scientific endeavors have transformation as a component, not because it is impossible because it is possible. When you think about it, this is something that often happens in all our lives, you're born into the world as a baby, but over the course of your life you will be reborn many times and will take on different forms. Sometimes, who you become and where you end, will be unrecognizable compared to the place you started, yes Alchemy. The baby girl becomes a female adolescent teen, woman, wife, mother, and later grandmother. As this is occurring, she may also have been a daughter, student, friend, girlfriend, scientist, a doctor, and a Nobel peace prize winner. She is one person, reborn many times, taking on many different forms.

What can we quantify as new in our lives? A new pair of leather shoes is an old cow; a new home is old trees, a new wool suit is an old sheep's wool. All are rearranged and repackaged as something new, an old thing in a new form, "Alchemy." Therefore alchemy is possible and can be accelerated by wisdom, creativity, and innovation.

"A sense is what has the power of receiving into itself the sensible forms of things without the matter, in the way in which a piece of wax takes on the impress of a signet-ring without the iron or gold."

Aristotle

Now, if we can conclude that alchemy is real and is not rubbish, then we can move to the next idea, which we will be discussing in the next blog post "Alchemy of Finance II. Poverty and lack are not real but are illusions, which through wisdom, creativity and innovation can be transformed into wealth and plenty.
